Belmont Stakes 2016 Results & Thank You!

At an 8-1 overlay price, our top win contender pick, Destin, gets nipped at the wire by a game Creator who went off at 16-1. Creator was a top choice in the Super Screener for including heavily under in exotic tickets but a win was a surprise based on how much racing he had done in such a short time and the fact that the race has been particularly unkind to deep closer types, historically, especially since the pace that materialized was simply average.
This year’s Super Screener top long shot pick, Lani, did manage to run a very good race to finish third despite running in both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness. Our top rated board hitter that the Super Screener ranked 4th , Governor Malibu, finished exactly in 4th at odds of 17-1 after encountering some traffic in the race. This is a horse to watch as we get into the great 3 year-old racing later in the Summer.
Exaggerator came up as vulnerable by the Super Screener based on the key criteria that he violated. Like so many horses that have run in the Derby and Preakness preceded by a heavy campaign, he was just a tired horse coming into the Belmont Stakes and jockey Kent Desormeaux wisely wrapped up on him in the stretch when he knew there was no chance to hit the board. He’ll be heard from again once given the opportunity to recover.
With a finish by Creator anywhere other than 1st we are cashing tickets, but his nose got in the way of that opportunity.
Your Super Screener team is continuously working on ways to improve not only the Super Screener book design and new features (like links to videos), but we have been trialing the inclusion of some undercard coverage on these big racing days as well. While the Super Screener criteria for the undercard races is in early formation, we’ll continue to leverage the new data that comes available each year to refine the screening criteria for those races along the way.
Between now and Breeders’ Cup, there will be plenty of exciting summer racing action nearly every weekend at Saratoga, Del Mar as well as marquee stakes racing days at racing venues such as Monmouth Park, Arlington Park and others. If there is enough interest, we will be expanding the Super Screener product to cover the top Stake racing each weekend. We would love to hear from you if this is something you might be interested in trying.
As always, we are most grateful to you our customers who make the Super Screener product possible. Thanks for your continued support, great feedback and your outstanding loyalty.
