G1 Cotillion

The Super Screener picked the Trifecta in exact order with the top win pick It Tiz Well winning readily over heavily favored Abel Tasman while third choice Lockdown finished a close third.

Abel Tasman fell back further than usual early in the race and then fought Mike Smith as he tried to get her in the race but then she suddenly freaked and ran off on Smith along the rail going from 9th to 4th in a flash.  She showed her inherent talent by showing no quit down the lane passing a game Lockdown but absolutely no match for the winner.

Here’s what the Super Screener anticipated about It Tiz Well’s winning performance:

The Super Screener top win pick honors go to #5 It Tiz Well out of the Jerry Hollendorfer barn who will be one of the greatest beneficiaries of the 1 1/4 to 1 1/16 miles cut back in distance.  She carved out punishing fractions last out in the G1 Alabama and and while other speed folded she rolled on with persistence through that final quarter mile to hold onto 2nd and even showed some stoutness after the wire.  She’ll now revert back to her customary role as a presser chasing through pretty rapid fractions again but at the shorter and much preferred distance.  She has no quit in her and will be tough to run down.  Sharp recent works only lend more confidence.”

The Super Screener top long shot pick Mopotism rose to the occasion on the ship-in, finishing a solid 4th at 20-1 (coming down from 30-1 a few minutes earlier).  Here’s what the Super Screener had to say about this filly:

The multiple suggested Exacta wager hits and the Trifecta win combined to produce over $1,100 in return.

G1 Pennsylvania Derby

Without question, with this runaway victory, West Coast has now firmly established himself as top 3 year-old male in the country.  Like he did in the G1 Travers, he just dusted this field while being forwardly placed.  Irap ran another big race trying his heart out like he always does, but unfortunately fractured his sesamoids in this left front leg, which explains the abrupt left turn he took late in the stretch.  He was operated on Monday by the same doctor that treated on Barbaro so he is in good hands and we wish horse and connections all the best.

The Super Screener long shot pick, Game Over, obliged like our other top long shot bombers on the card and completed the Superfecta at 19-1.  Here’s what the Screener had to say about this talented colt:

In addition, deep closer Giuseppe the Great finished 3rd at monster odds of 47-1.  Here’s what the Super Screener anticipated about this colt:

Despite the 3rd place finish at 47-1 the Trifecta still paid just peanuts.

PA Derby Champion

The horse-for-course, Page McKenney, did it again at age 7 winning this one and improving his Exacta record at Parx Racing to an impressive 7 for 7.  Screener could see using under but faded for the win spot.  Just Call Kenny ran another big race off that last out lifetime top.  The Super Screener top win pick, Matt King Coal finished a close up 3rd after dueling throughout and never secured the lone lead he needed getting dogged by the 51-1 shot Grasshoppin through the first half after which Page McKenney took that duty over before passing for the win.  The Super Screener top long shot pick, Discreet Lover held on to complete the Superfecta.

G3 Gallant Bob Stakes

Coal Front returned to his winning ways returning to easier company as this one came down to just two horses in the end, with American Pastime running up to challenge Coal Front as they were turning for home but could never pass him… but it was that pair that drew clearly away from the field.  The Super Screener top win pick Running Mate had no excuses and completed the Superfecta at 7-1.  Coal Front and American Pastime deserve a look as they proceed toward the Breeders’ Cup Sprint.

G3 CT Oaks

The Super Screener top board hitter pick, Tequilita, leveraged her agility and preference for these 7 furlong sprints on the bullring race course to win as the second favorite.  Our second choice in the race, Berned, just ran out of real estate but did manage to complete the Superfecta at generous odds of 14-1.  The impossible-to-have Yorkiepoo Princess popped with a shocker finishing a game second at gargantuan odds of 75-1.

This weekend is a big one – the first Super Saturday of BC preps at Santa Anita that includes the Awesome Again, and the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic at Belmont, among many others! We’ve also got the Miss Grillo on Sunday that could be a great potential betting race. The complete lineup will be finalized Wednesday!

Until next weekend… Go Fast and Win!
