Super Screener’s 20-1 Top Long Shot Pick Wins Pocahontas!

G2 Pocahontas

The Super Screener top long bomber pick and 3rd ranked horse in the field, Patrona Margarita, did not disappoint and crushed a solid field coming from off the pace overcoming a softer pace for the win at odds of nearly 24-1.  Here’s what the Super Screener said about Patrona Margarita before the race.

Top Super Screener win picks, Sultry and Snowfire both disappointed finishing in the second half of the field.

G2 Iroquois

Our top board hitter pick, Hollywood Star, couldn’t quite seal the deal finishing a game second and showing every indication that he’ll get better with more ground.  Here’s what the Super Screener said about this top star in the Dale Romans’ barn:

In the end, it was trainer Larry Rivelli’s precocious colt, Tabulator, that pressed the pace throughout sitting off modest fractions before finding the wire first but with an ever-diminishing margin.  The Screener’s second ranked horse, Ten City completed the chalky Trifecta and the $3 suggested Trifecta wager paid $255.

G2 Sands Point

The Super Screener top board hitter pick, Uni, prevailed for the win over an improving, and anything but vulnerable (except for the win spot), La Coronel, who cut easy fractions but could not hold off that strong turn of foot which is Uni’s greatest asset.

“The other top Super Screener win pick is #6 Uni. She submitted a huge effort in what was probably the top race for 3 year-old Graded Stakes turf fillies to date in her US debut. She followed that up with an even better effort in the Grade 2 Lake Placid in which she encountered the slowest of pace set ups yet displayed that brilliant turn of foot coming from last in the compact field to finish a very game 2nd and she is now cranked up for a lifetime top on the firm turf she relishes against a more realistic pace setup.”

The Super Screener top long shot pick, Fault, the recent winner of the Pucker Up Stakes at Arlington Park on Million Day, showed versatility by staying closer to the slower pace and then holding on gamely to that third place finish to complete the Trifecta.  Here’s what the Super Screener spotted in this long shot filly:

G1 Woodbine Mile

In this important prep race leading up to the Breeders’ Cup Mile, World Approval found no takers for the early lead so he took command half way through the race and just out paced the late closers for an impressive win though the pace in this will come back softer than the fractions indicate.  The Super Screener indicated as one to include in vertical wagers but faded for the win.

The Screener did accurately conclude that of the Aidan O’Brien pair entered, Lancaster Bomber would prevail over his more favored stablemate, Deauville, who finished 2nd to last in the race.  Lancaster Bomber was the Super Screener’s top board hitter pick and this is what we had to say about this colt:

The top long shot bomber pick and Euro shipper, Arod, nearly completed the Superfecta missing by a diminishing half length definitely out running his gargantuan odds of 51-1!  This was part of the analysis on Arod that preceded the race which led to the conclusion this one will surprise:

“#9 Arod is a sneaky good long shot that after an unsuccessful campaign in Australia (which is common for Europe-based types) was switched to the barn of the extremely competent trainer, David Simcock, and has been given a 5-month break.  He is reportedly in great condition and ready to fire a big effort here, otherwise, they would not have bothered with the ship.  Ran decent enough in this race last year.  Useful sort in your Exotics and looking for a price of 25-1 or greater.”

Not to be outdone, the spotlight turns to Parx as their premier day of stakes racing takes place on Saturday, featuring a 13-race card that includes multiple graded stakes races including the G1 Pennsylvania Derby headlined by Travers winner and rising Bob Baffert star, West Coast, and the G1 Cotillion Stakes featuring another Bob Baffert star in Abel Tasman.  Another great day of stakes racing as the next four weeks feature the final preps leading up to the Breeders’ Cup (which is now just over 6 weeks away!).  Catch all the Stakes insights and prep evaluations right here!

Until next weekend…Go fast and win!
